How to Speed the Metabolism for Faster Weight Loss

They talk a lot nowadays about how to speed up your metabolism, or your metabolic rate.

Can it be done? Yes.

Should you do it? Well, generally speaking  I would say: no. Because when you think about it; it really just means burning that candle at both ends, and that translates into faster aging.
But when burning fat –or building muscle for that matter—then yes … short-term.

Now let’s take a quick look at what works and what doesn’t.
 

  • Grazing, or eating many small meals every day: doesn’t work.

Eating makes you fat, not lean.
 

  • Marathon Running, steady state, cardio, aerobics: doesn’t work.

The Hormonal Response to this type of thing actually slows down your metabolism, tends to STORE fat where it can and break down muscle tissue.

That’s why marathon runners usually are thin as sticks, have relatively high body fat levels and are at a pretty high risk for all kinds of health conditions.
NOT the way to speed your metabolism at all …

 

  • Being on a constant, daily calorie-deficit: doesn’t work.

Apart from starving, experiencing appetite and hunger all the time, the body even slows down to save energy. The result? Less fat burned, and a slower metabolism.

Note: BUT…remember what I said about burning the candle at both ends? There’s a lot of evidence that this type of thing, namely a regular calorie deficit, actually really and reliably extends life spans, at least in animal studies.
There haven’t been any human studies on this, but some people follow the fasting approach and seem to get good results.

Michio Kaku, Modern Day’s Einstein, says it’s thus far the only thing that has been shown to actually work for slowing the aging process.

 

So what DOES work? How to speed metabolism in dieters?

  • Training. With weights, that is. And HIIT (high intensity interval training).

And here’s another one:

  • Iodine. This substance is basically the over-regulator for the whole metabolism, for fat burning, muscle building, energy. And it’s essential for the immune system.

Now let me get the disclaimer in right away: Im not a doctor, so you can actually listen to what I say. Naaaw, just kidding.  I’m NOT a doctor though, so you should get yourself checked by yours and make sure you’re good to go. Also none of this is supposed to be medical advice.

Let’s just say here’s what I do, personally:

I start every day off with 6 drops of Lugol’s Iodine Solution in a little water — half a cup– on an empty stomach, and

I take Kelp Tablets 3 times per day.

Works like the blazes.

Throw in some lifting and High Intensity Interval Training 3x plus a week and your metabolism will be buzzing.

So there you go, some simple ways to speed your metabolism that actually work!
